Earth observation, GIS and automated processing algorithms
Earth observation (or remote sensing) is the gathering of information about planet Earth's physical, chemical and biological systems, usually employing, but not restricted to satellite and airborne sensors. Often, remote sensing data are further processed in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). A GIS allows the visualization, query, analysis and interpretation of geographical data to understand spatial relationships, patterns and trends. Data and the outcomes of data processing are used to map, monitor and assess the status of and changes in the natural and built environments.
In a wide range of remote sensing and GIS based projects space4environment has proven expertise ranging from digital to visual image processing via spatial data analysis to the making of high quality maps or web services. By utilizing the full strength of functionalities of geoinformation systems and image interpretation software suites a multitude of information is gained out of the data depending on the customers needs.
For the processing of big data and large amounts of datasets this expertise in analysis and interpretation is combined with extensive processing power by developing (semi-)automated scripting routines. These routines allow for standardized processing of complex analysis tasks by evaluating large data loads in parallel and automating certain steps.
space4environment staff is using its knowledge of open source based programming and automation applications such as Python, PostgreSQL or R to develop and realize processing algorithms and tools to meet the user's demands and beyond.
