WHO WE ARE

Learn about what we stand for

space4environment was founded in 2007 as a private sector enterprise and is registered as a limited liability company (Sàrl) under Luxemburgish law. The initial vision was to combine data sets from different sources and of different characteristics to be able to convert data into value-adding information and, eventually, knowledge to the benefit of the customers.

While still maintaining a strong technical foothold, we have enlarged the scope of our activities towards environmental thematic assessments and data intelligence to promote a better decision-making in the future. Today, the core purpose of space4environment can be best summarised by our maxim “using space data to provide space for the environment”.

We believe that earth observation data are a vital asset in today’s need for timely and relevant information on the state and trends of the environment. Nonetheless, we know that just providing mapping or monitoring services and data to our customers is not enough. Rather, we add value to these basic data and contribute to their reporting and decision-making with policy relevant information and knowledge supported by data analytics and business intelligence.

By closely cooperating with our customers, we aim at optimizing the value of their spatial data and information. Besides user requirements engineering and quality assessment of land related products, space4environment focuses on spatial data analysis and thematic assessments in support of European environmental policies (e.g., the ones from the European Green Deal, such as the Biodiversity Strategy 2030, the Climate Adaptation Strategy, the Soil Thematic Strategy, the Forest Strategy or the Common Agricultural Policy).
