We are proud to announce the publication of a new study in One Ecosystem, co-authored by our colleagues. Titled 'Integrating national and international ecosystem typologies for condition assessments', the article was written in collaboration with colleagues from the King Juan Carlos University in Madrid and the Norwegian Institute for Nature Research (NINA) in Trondheim. It explores how national, European and global ecosystem typologies can be harmonised to support ecosystem condition assessments and policy reporting across the EU and beyond.
This research highlights the compatibility of national typologies with international frameworks like EUNIS, CORINE, and MAES, and emphasizes the importance of ecologically homogeneous classes and crosswalks for international comparability. The findings are crucial for advancing ecosystem management and decision-making at both national and international levels .
